Áderabe / אַדרבא

The interjection אַדרבא pronounced [ÁDERABE] – can be used with different connotations, from pleasure to aggression. The word is usually used in the context of a conversation.

3. ‘I dare you!’/‘Come on!’ + imperative (= challenge/aggression)

אַדרבא, ווײַז מיר וואָס דו קענסט!

Come on, show me what you got!

4. ‘You’re welcome’

אַ דאַנק פֿאַר דער שיינער מתּנה.

אַדרבא! סע קומט דיר.

[– A DANK FAR DER ShÉYNER MATÓNE

ÁDERABE! SE KUMT DIR.]

– Thanks for the beautiful gift.

– You’re welcome! You deserve it.

5. To indicate added emphasis/enthusiasm = !אַדרבא־ואַדרבא

רייזל האָט פֿאַרבעטן משהן אויף וועטשערע, האָט ער ענטוזיאַסטיש געענטפֿערט: „אַדרבא־ואַדרבא!“ ‹„מיטן גרעסטן פֿאַרגעניגן!“›

[REYZL HOT FARBÉTN MÓYShEN AF VÉTShERE, HOT ER ENTUZYÁSTISh GEÉNTFERT: “ÁDERABEVEÁDERABE” ‹“MITN GRESTN FARGENÍGN!”›]
