Worlds Within a World: Conversations with Yiddish Writers
The Project
The film series “Worlds within a World: Conversations with Yiddish Writers” provides a visual and oral document of prominent contemporary Yiddish writers so that present and future generations can “spend time” with these fascinating figures and gain some insight into their work and milieu. Each film is an interview, enhanced by photo stills and music, conducted entirely in Yiddish with English subtitles. To date, we have filmed educator, literary critic and poet Itche Goldberg; poet/songwriter Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman; painter/writer Yonia Fain; and Canadian poet and novelist Chava Rosenfarb. The films make a perfect program for a Yiddish circle, class, book group, your local Jewish or documentary film festival or for your own enjoyment.
