Last updated: July 12, 2026

League for Yiddish, Inc. (“the League,” “we,” “us” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, how we use and share it and the choices available to you.

This policy applies to the League’s website and to information the League receives through its online membership, donation, newsletter and communication activities. It does not govern the independent privacy practices of third-party websites or services that you visit through links from our website.

Information We Collect

Information you provide to us

Depending on how you use the website, you may provide us with information such as:

  • Your name, postal address, email address and telephone number

  • Membership information

  • Donation amounts and transaction information

  • Newsletter subscription information

  • Messages, requests or other information you send to us

We use membership information to administer your membership, communicate with you and send you the League’s publication Afn Shvel and other League information.

The website does not currently provide public user accounts or permit public comments.

Payments and donations

We use third-party payment processors to accept membership payments and donations. Our primary payment processor is Stripe. We may also provide PayPal as an alternative way to make a donation.

When you make a payment through Stripe or PayPal, your payment information is submitted to and processed by that provider according to its own privacy policy and security practices. The League does not receive or store your complete credit- or debit-card number. We may receive information connected with the transaction, such as your name, contact information, payment amount, transaction date and payment status, so that we can process your membership or donation and maintain appropriate financial records.

Email communications

If you sign up for our newsletter or provide your email address when becoming a member, we may use your email address to send League news, program announcements, membership communications and other information about our activities.

We currently use Constant Contact to manage our mailing lists and distribute email communications. Your name, email address and subscription information may therefore be processed by Constant Contact on our behalf.

You may unsubscribe from general League email communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our emails. Unsubscribing from general communications may not prevent us from sending necessary messages concerning your membership, donations or other transactions with the League.

External online store

Our website contains links to the League for Yiddish’s online store, which is hosted using Turbify, formerly known as Yahoo Store. The store is a separate website, even when it is reached from a link in our navigation menu or elsewhere on our site.

Information you submit through the store is subject to the privacy policy and practices applicable to that store. The League may receive information about your purchase, such as your name, contact information, shipping address, items ordered and payment status, so that we can fulfill your order, provide customer service and maintain appropriate business and financial records.

This Privacy Policy governs the League’s handling of information it receives from the store, but it does not govern Turbify’s independent collection or processing of information on the store website.
